Emoji Cake Pops: Double Chocolate Cookie Dough

by Pop Up Girl July 17, 2020

This post is also available in: Deutsch (German)

Happy World Emoji Day! If I love something, it’s EMOJI ☺️ And even if some believe that I am already using emoji in an almost inflationary manner. But I personally find that you can’t use enough emoji 😅🤷🏻‍♀️

And speaking of which: today is international emoji day and I baked a bunch of my favorite ones 😹🙈🤷🏻‍♀️😍💩

Double Chocolate Cookie Dough Emoji: So geht’s

Admittedly, making the Emoji Cake Pops takes a little more time, but I think it’s definitely worth it. Because the cake pops not only taste excellent, they are also definitely an eye-catcher and put a smile on the face of even the biggest grumbler.

Ingredients (makes about 15 – 20 Cake Pops):

  • 250 g soft butter
  • 100 g caster sugar
  • 30 g raw brown sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 eggs (size M)
  • 300 g flour
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 3 tsp milk

Frosting for the Emoji Cake Pops:

  • 5 tbsp oats, ground
  • 100 g chocolate drops, white
  • 100 g chocolate drops, dark
  • 250 g sweetened condensed milk
  • 100 g cream cheese
  • 20 g butter, melted

Glaze & Decoration of the Emoji Cake Pops:

  • 200 g white chocolate glaze
  • 200 g dark chocolate glaze
  • yellow food coloring (fat soluble!)
  • Candy eyes
  • Candy hearts
  • wooden skewers

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 ° C top / bottom heat.
  2. Beat the butter until frothy and gradually add the white and brown sugar. Mix everything with a hand mixer until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Then add the eggs one at a time. Mix in each egg well and only then add the next egg to the butter.
  4. Mix flour with baking powder and salt, add spoonfuls to the butter mixture and stir well.
  5. Finally stir in the milk. If the batter is too firm, you can add a little more milk.
  6. Grease a cake tin a little, pour in the batter and bake for about 40 minutes.
  7. Let the cake cool and then roughly crumble the cake.
  8. For the frosting: Mix the sweetened condensed milk, cream cheese and butter with the hand mixer.
  9. For the cake pops: knead the frosting with the cake crumbs.
  10. Finally fold in the chocolate drops and the ground oat flakes. Tip: The oatmeal gives the dough mix a little more bite like you know it from cookie dough.
  11. Put the cake pop mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes, then the mixture can be shaped better.
  12. Roll out the dough between two sheets of baking paper about 1.5 cm thick.
  13. Cut out about 30 circles with a round cookie cutter or glass (ø 5 cm). Put the cut out circles in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  14. Meanwhile, melt the white and dark chocolate over a water bath.
  15. Dip a skewer in some chocolate and “glue” it between two cookie dough circles. Press both halves together well so that the cake pop does not fall off the skewer.
  16. Repeat until the batter is used up.
  17. For the smiley emojis: Colors the melted white chocolate yellow according to the instructions on the packet. The paint must be fat-soluble and must never be water-based. Glaze the cakepops with the yellow chocolate and let them dry. Tip: Make small holes in a shoe box and put the cake pops in to dry. So they can dry standing upright.
  18. For the 💩 emojis: Use your fingers to carefully shape the circles into 💩 shapes. And then glaze with the dark chocolate and let it dry. Tip: Make small holes in a shoe box and put the cake pops in to dry. So they can dry standing upright.
  19. When the chocolate glaze of the cake pops is almost completely dry, attach the eyes or hearts.
  20. Paint a mouth with a kebab skewer. If you want, you can paint your mouth with dark chocolate.

Servings: 15 Stück
Course: Cake Pops, Dessert, Kuchen
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

Kuchenteig
  • 250 g weiche Butter
  • 100 g Zucker
  • 30 g brauner Zucker
  • 1 Prise Salz
  • 4 Eier Größe M
  • 300 g Mehl universal
  • 2 TL Backpulver
  • 3 EL Milch
Frosting
  • 5 EL Haferflocken gemahlen
  • 100 g Schokolade-Drops weiß
  • 100 g Schokolade-Drops dunkel
  • 250 g gesüßte Kondensmilch
  • 100 g Frischkäse
  • 20 g Butter geschmolzen
Dekor
  • 200 g weiße Schokolade-Glas
  • 200 g dunkle Schokolade-Glasur
  • gelbe Lebensmittelfarbe (fettlöslich!)
  • Zuckeraugen, Zuckerherzen
  • 15 Schaschlikspieße

Method

  1. Den Ofen auf 160° C Ober-/ Unterhitze vorheizen.
