Deluxe and leftovers - that doesn't go together ?! On the contrary: Because we transform the leftovers of our opulent holiday feast into a sandwich.

Leftover-Makeover Deluxe: Sandwich made from Leftovers

Who doesn't know this: You prepared a feast for friends and family and in the end you don't know what to do with the leftovers. Because even though you have "forced" leftovers on your guests, there is still enough left for half a company. So what to do with the leftovers? Tips for Leftover-Makeovers for free and yum

So for today's recipe I used the leftovers of our thanksgiving feast and created a delicious sandwich. It is not only suitable as a lunch to take away to the office (jealous looks from colleagues all inclusive), but also tastes great for breakfast or snack.

Here's how you do Holiday Leftovers great again:

Ingredients (makes 2 sandwiches):

  • 150 g goose or turkey (remains from Thanksgiving)
  • 2 dumplings (leftovers from Thanksgiving or Christmas)
  • 2 tbsp red cabbage (leftovers from Thanksgiving or Christmas)
  • 2 tsp cranberry chutney (leftovers from Thanksgiving or Christmas)
  • Fresh, rustic sourdough bread
  • blue cheese
  • Freshly ground pepper & nutmeg

Instructions:

  1. Toast 4 slices of bread.
  2. Brush both slices with a little cranberry jelly.
  3. Arrange some red cabbage on a slice of toast.
  4. Then cut the remaining meat and 1 - 2 dumplings into slices. Arrange on the red cabbage.
  5. Crumble the blue cheese and put it on the sandwich as a topping.
  6. Garnish with fresh pepper and nutmeg.
  7. Put both halves of bread on top of each other and press down a little.
  8. PS: You can also make the sandwich with turkey or chicken leftovers.

Tip: If you prefer a hot sandwich, simply heat up the whole sandwich in the oven or sandwich maker for a few minutes.
